James Troop’s 2nd Volvo Penta Centre Dealer Day on Thursday 10th April at the National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port, was attended by representatives from each of our 7 Dealers. The majority of delegates stayed at the nearby Holiday Inn on the Wednesday evening where we all enjoyed networking and an excellent dinner.
The conference was opened by Stephen Griffiths who welcomed our current and two new Dealers, AAS Marine and Llyn Marine, before presenting an overview of recent and future developments. Geoff Hall then outlined Volvo Penta’s environmental expectations before Anthony Ward spoke about the history and opportunities for new engine sales.
Each of the Dealers gave a short presentation on their own business and described their top needs from Troops and Volvo Penta. Two Workshops sessions were held, facilitated by Troops, Ryan Jarvis and Tim Barclay from Volvo Penta, in which Dealers were asked to identify what future Campaigns should be run and when. The Museum staff laid on an excellent buffet lunch when we were joined by other members of James Troops’ staff (so that everyone could put faces to names they had previously only spoken to on the ‘phone). After lunch, we were taken on a guided tour of the Boat Museum and its fascinating exhibits (well worth another visit!).
In the afternoon session, the Dealers presented feedback from the Workshops about future Campaigns before Volvo Penta’s Ryan Jarvis gave an interesting talk about the Volvo Penta business and its future direction. Ryan and Tim then congratulated all the Dealers on their training commitment throughout the year also presenting training awards to Dickies and Marine Charter Solutions. Actions from the break out groups have been documented and circulated ensuring we take advantage of every opportunity.
“I was very impressed with the proactive way James Troop organised their dealer conference and that it showed the commitments they are making to help and support their dealers by working together to grow their businesses. They are setting a standard” says Volvo Penta’s Tim Barclay.
Following a Q & A session, Robert Pollock, Stephen and Geoff closed a successful event by thanking everyone for their attendance and confirmed that together, Volvo Penta, James Troop and each Dealer will grow their businesses during the years to come.
