We have met the needs of the world-wide power generation market for over a century in supporting major diesel engine manufacturers and end users with our technical and practical knowledge and by supplying spare parts for various engine makes.

James Troop & Company Ltd is an SME based in Runcorn, Cheshire, close to major north-west motorways and airports. The Company employs 30 people in its two core business areas of Sales and Service.  The Company’s principal engine franchises include:- Volvo Penta (VP Centre for NW England), Deutz (Key Distributor), MTU (Service Dealer), MAN (Commercial Marine & Industrial Dealer), Cummins & Perkins (Approved Supplier of parts to both) and Daihatsu Diesels (UK Parts & Service Dealer).

The Sales section can supply Engines, Generator Sets, spare parts and consumables for marine, industrial, plant, rail, utilities & leisure applications for all its franchises and for many other OEMs.

The Service Team of 10 OEM-trained and mobile Engineers is able to service, maintain, overhaul and repair a wide range of engine types either in our own well-equipped Workshop or on customers’ sites or vessels, both in harbour or at sea. Service Support facilities include computerised Engine Diagnostics (Volvo Penta and MTU engines) and mobile Load Bank Testing.

The Company can also provide a complete turnkey service covering the design, supply, installation, commissioning and management of power generation packages to customers’ specifications.

The Company’s major customers include Severn Trent Water (CHP sets), British Energy, BP Shipping, Norbulk, V-Ships, Teekay Marine, P&O, Cammell Laird, Carisbrooke, Liverpool Airport, Peel Ports (Liverpool), Associated British Ports, Terberg, A2Sea, Turbine Transfer, Marine Specialised Technology (MST) and several major NW shopping centres (emergency generator sets).

The MoD is also an important customer and the Company has recently completed a major repowering project for the Royal Navy’s Minehunter ships (21 Generator sets on 7 ships) and has just supplied 14 engines to the Royal Navy’s Training School.

The Company’s Business Management System is certified to ISO 9001 by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance. The Company is certified to the Achilles UVDB scheme which enables it to tender for contracts with major utility organizations.  The Company is a member of RoSPA, Halton Chamber of Commerce and the Astmoor Business Improvement District
